In Chinese culture, people usually eat together on a circle table. While they are eating with their family and they believe it is the happy reunion “團圓” moment. In Chinese, full moon also has the meaning of reunion. Therefore, I use the full moon shape to be the chopstick rest to remind diners of their family love while they are having a meal.

For the production process, I use the injection molding. Made the paper clay sample by hand and then fill the dried clay in silicone. After the mold was dry, cut the parting line at the center of each side. Took out the paper clay close the mold, pulled the resin plastic to be the first chopstick rest and pull the liquid aluminum to be the second chopstick rest. I did not polish the surface as I wanted to keep the rough surface like the original moon.
